Benjamin Franklin said "An Ounce Of Prevention Is Worth A Pound Of Cure". Our "Ounce of Prevention" is powerful natural pest prevention for your dog, made from all natural ingredients.

Available in Half Ounce, One Ounce, and multi-packs so you can keep one in the house, one in the car and for easy gift giving.

An Ounce Of Prevention is a super concentrated all-natural solution to protect your dog from fleas, ticks and mosquitoes. It’s only made from things that you can pronounce and nothing man-made. This proprietary blend of pure essential oils is non-toxic and safe for both your dog and your family.

The idea behind an Ounce of Prevention is to keep the bugs away before they bite. The best defense is a good offense. Though it might smell nice to you, it creates a ‘cloud’ of stinky bad smells to ticks, fleas, mosquitoes and many other flying or crawling insects. This cloud is what repels the insects.

EFFECTIVE
The ingredients* in An Ounce of Prevention have proven themselves effective at naturally keeping bugs at bay. They have been used by people in civilizations around the world and throughout the ages. An Ounce of Prevention has also been field tested over thousands of miles of hikes and walks in forests, fields and beaches. It is what we use on all the Walk Your Dog With Love dogs (and ourselves as well!)

No extra 'filler' oils or liquids are used. It is only 100% pure all natural, plant derived, essential oils. So you get potent power to repel bugs. Nothing artificial is added, so you can feel good about using it too.

USE
An Ounce of Prevention's easy no-spill micro-droplet applicator bottle lets you apply it exactly where you need it. Not a spray, you apply it by the drop and rub it on the dog's fur, so nothing gets wasted. This also means no more getting repellent in your dog’s sensitive eyes, nose and mouth. Nor yours. Simply tip the bottle on your finger and then gently rub the oil on your dog's fur. Apply as needed. A little goes a long way! If you can smell it, it is still working.

Only apply to fur or hair.

DO NOT apply to your dog’s eyes, nose, mouth, or inside their ears, genitals, anus, open wounds or mucous membranes. Do not apply to broken or irritated areas. Please always take care with essential oils near pregnant dogs, humans or other animals. Also please note it is NOT meant for cats as they are extremely sensitive to essential oils. As with anything you are putting on your dog or yourself, apply to a small area first. It’s super-potent, so head outside soon after application so the smell doesn't get overwhelming.

Use it alone, or as part of a more comprehensive tick and flea prevention program.

ATTRIBUTES
Even though it is made of "oil", it goes on 'dry'. Essential Oils are highly concentrated essences of plants; they also happen to not mix well with water. So they are referred to as Oils. They are usually not greasy or slippery, terms we often associate with the word Oil, and what we expect from things like olive oil or petroleum-based oils like mineral or motor oil. Essential oils are usually Lipophilic, which means that they do mix well with oils whether plant or petroleum derived; we do not use any extenders, so neither is an issue.

HANDLING
An Ounce of Prevention comes in a classic colored glass apothecary bottle. This is important as essential oils don’t do well in plastic or aluminum, and the colored glass helps keep the oils out of the deteriorating light.

The bottles have an drop-reducer plug which should not be removed; it prevents spilling and more importantly lets you apply micro-drops of the oil to your fingers which you then rub lightly on the dog's fur

A dog's nose is 400 times more sensitive than ours, so please consider this when applying the oil to your dog. If possible apply it to your dog outside – or go outside soon (even if your are in a car) – so that it doesn’t overwhelm your dog..

Use it alone, or as part of a more comprehensive tick and flea prevention program.

Also please note it is NOT meant for cats. Essential oils are NOT suitable for your cat’s sensitive skin!

We use this on all our Labs. It helps to fight the evil ticks. It truly does. Yes, still check, and Yes, still use the pesticide. We did our research and found that the main ingredients in this are what Consumer Reports says it the best tick repellant. I use it on myself too. Long time customer. Also LOVE the harnesses.

I love this product!!! It does exactly what it says on the bottle, makes your smell great to AND it also repels midges from biting you if rubbed on yourself… We holiday in Scotland and the midges are vicious, and I noticed that I was left alone when I rubbed my hands on each other after rubbing my Bairn's fur!!!!
