How come? Because over 20 years ago (before you ever heard about an Easy Walk) I (hello, I'm Dan, the founder of Walk Your Dog With Love) invented front leading for dogs - read about it here. Back in the day, I wasn't making dog harnesses or manufacturing anything, I just happened to have a great pack of dogs - see them here. They were all loose and off leash trained. Yet, my veterinarian warned me that – despite the training – I should never ever walk them by their throats. So I started to use harnesses. Unfortunately (and just like today) they all sucked...they were confusing contraptions, they chafed, didn’t fit, were difficult to adjust, could be escaped from...or all of the above. So, with an old straight-stich Singer sewing machine, I started to make my own. Now we make them with state of the art bar-tack sewing machines, 3800-pound test high performance technical material, and they are engineered for durability and longevity.

THE DETAILS

• What is with that thing on the front of the Easy Walk (the Martingale)? It squeezes a dog’s shoulders together as a dog pulls. This torques the dog’s skeleton. There is nothing ‘easy’ about this on the dog and it can really hurt a dog. Veterinarians hate everything about it. Leading from the front is the magic, compressing the dog's shoulders has nothing to do with it. 
• Add to that that the metal ring sits directly on the dog’s shoulders, and the straps pull directly on the shoulder joint. Not good.
• Easy Walk's pull point is low on the dog’s chest – where there is less leverage. Not Effective. The Easy Walk then loosens up during the walk and ends up blocking a dog’s legs from moving. Walk Your Dog With Love’s pull point is on the center of the chest, where the dog’s energy is coming from.
• Adjusting Easy Walk is difficult. It has two separate side adjustments, plus a top and a bottom adjustment. That’s a lot of adjusting to ‘get it right’. Walk Your Dog With Love is “one and done”.
• Easy Walk’s metal sliders have no ‘teeth’ to hold the webbing in place, so the harnesses loosens-up while you walk your dog. Walk Your Dog With Love keeps its size.
• Easy Walk chafes relentlessly. Every folded over and sewn webbing spot is another chafing point on your dog’s sensitive skin – especially in their underarms and belly. Easy Walk has lots of those spots and its design forces them to rub on your dog’s body.
• And ALL those buckles, metal rings and sliders. What’s that about? Contraptions are not comfy. Heavy contraptions are worse.
• Contraptions are also hard to figure out, which makes them a hassle to use. Then they don’t get used, and your dog gets walked by its neck. Which is what we’re trying to avoid.

Finally Easy Walk is made in China by a multinational conglomerate. The same conglomerate that made, and still makes, the first electric Shock Collar. A giant investment firm owns the conglomerate. On the other hand, Walk Your Dog With Love dog gear is owned by me, and craft-made in Lanesborough MA, off all USA sourced material. Why does this matter?

• Other countries don’t have the regulations we do. For instance, our webbing doesn’t have heavy metal dye in it. This is important because you don't want that sitting on your dog.
• Our webbing company and hardware companies pays fair wages to their workers, as I do with my team. This is versus using material that costs pennies on the dollar and then labor that costs pennies on the dollar too.
• Lastly, I oversee the company’s daily operation - everything from production to customer service. I'll actually call you back if you call me.
